Kamyar Kafaie was born in July 1979 in Tehran. He is a self-taught artist who began expressing himself through drawing before he could read or write. His early works filled the pages of his textbooks, where he drew caricatures of his teachers and classmates. Sometimes, these drawings were circulated among students, creating noise and disturbance in the classroom.

Growing up in a family that appreciated creativity, Kamyar found himself at odds with the academic environment of his school, which prioritized math and science. His major artistic influences include his father, an architect, and Mahmoud Javadipour, a master Iranian painter and a close relative.

In 1999, at the age of 19, Kamyar left Iran for Los Angeles, California, to attend university. He initially studied animation and design but later graduated with a degree in finance, while his passion for art remained a secondary pursuit.

In 2011, he visited Iran and rekindled his passion for painting. Two years later, he made the decision to move back to Tehran and officially began his artistic career. His first solo exhibition took place at Art Factory Gallery in Tehran in 2014. The following year, he joined Aaran Gallery in Tehran, where he participated in a group exhibition and held two subsequent solo shows.

In 2017, Kamyar was featured in a highly publicized group show in New York City titled "Iran Cuba: Beyond Headlines." His most recent solo exhibition, titled "Homeland Introspective," was held in April 2018 at Aaran Gallery in Tehran.

Kamyar’s artwork is characterized by a detailed narrative style that addresses social and historical events with a satirical approach. He primarily uses acrylic and ink on Canvas.
